| Rex Merriweather Big Band Monday Night! | Northridge, CA | Big Band | EdMann |
Come out and see one of the best kept secrets in LA Jazz. The Ain't Your Daddy's Big Band, 7pm downbeat, two sets. Rex, whose high note heroics and appearances on America's Got Talent as well as South Park studio dates are a matter of record, fronts a band comprised of some great pros from the Dixie Chicks touring band, Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Buddy Rich and Tower of Power alumni. Two fine singers this week, as well. The great Bill Lamb, Rob Sack, Ed Mann (who?) and others blowing in the back row. Slammin Sammy K. on drums heads an incredible rhythm section with Dan and Charlie Ferguson (of Allyn Ferguson family fame). Robbie Hioki on bass trombone from Setzer's band. No Cover, no minimum, but if you don't imbibe, we'll notice! The Mex food is excellent as well.
