Planet Afrobeat is Ron Meza's flagship ensemble, it’s an Afrobeat Jazz big band featuring 5 horns and rhythm section. The band showcases its' RED HOT horn section floating on top of the trance like groove that is known as Afrobeat. Imagine James Brown, Tower of Power, the Brecker Brothers and Fela all rolled into one band. That is Planet Afrobeat.
Ron is no stranger to Afrobeat as he played with former Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen and learned from the best there is! Planet Afrobeat features all original compositions and is an 11 piece super nova in the universe known as World Music.
The band features some of LA's top world class musicians.
