Directed by musician/composer Dmitri Matheny ("the first breakthrough flugelhornist since Chuck Mangione" —San Jose Mercury News), the DMG has developed an engaging repertoire and a strong international following.
The group's signature sound pleases both crowds and critics, balancing fresh, original works with familiar jazz classics, hard bop, west coast cool and beloved standards from the Great American Songbook.
A highlight of their February 16th concert will be the premiere of Matheny's latest composition, "Buckshot Rubaiyat."
"Their music is a fertile landscape without boundaries," writes the Oakland Tribune, "earning Matheny and his cohorts a reputation as one of the most eclectic and daring ensembles on today's jazz scene."
Floyd Pellom's 57th Street Gallery showcases exclusive works of fine art with a focus on musical themes, and hosts this popular Saturday evening concert series featuring top regional and national talent.

2013 NSU Trumpet Festival featuring Charlie Geyer | Tahlequah, Oklahoma | Seminar / Festival | jdovel |
The Sixth Annual Northeastern State Trumpet Festival will be held February 16, 2013 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and will feature Charlie Geyer, Professor of Trumpet at Northwestern University. Charlie Geyer formerly taught at the Eastman School of Music and, prior to that, was a member of the Chicago Symphony and Houston Symphony Orchestras.
Also featured will be the new professional trumpet ensemble, Clarino Collective, which is made up of Michael Anderson (Oklahoma City University), Jason Dovel (Northeastern State University), Ryan Gardner (Oklahoma State University), Ben Hay (Tulsa Community College), Grant Peters (Missouri State University), Richard Rulli (University of Arkansas), and Christopher Wilson (Arkansas State University).
The NSU Trumpet Ensemble, NSU Baroque Trumpet Ensemble, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University Trumpet Ensembles will present a morning prelude concert. Dr. Christopher Magee, assistant professor at Northeast Lakeview College in San Antonio, Texas, will present a master class on lead trumpet playing. Dr. Benjamin Shaffer, trumpet instructor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, will present a master class on practice fundamentals.
Other events will include master classes, recitals, and group playing sessions. Saeid Music and The Music Store of Tulsa will be exhibiting musical instruments, mouthpieces, music, and accessories. All events will be held in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts, 605 N Grand Ave, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
