More than 30 brass players from throughout the Triangle will perform at the Second Annual Bull City Brass Bonanza on Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary and choir lofts of the historic Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 N Church Street, Durham. Admission is free!
Works include Gabrieli's antiphonal 'Sonata Octavi Toni', Brandt's 'Concert Piece No. 1' arranged for trumpet and brass choir (performed Dr. Kent Foss, trumpet professor at Campbell University), Brendan Collins' 'Trumpet Mambo' (performed by jazz trumpeter Doug McVey of the soul band The Chairmen of the Board), Gigout's 'Grand Choeur Dialogue' arranged for brass ensemble and organ (with guest organist Jane Lynch, retired Duke University Chapel Organist), and a number of other classical, jazz and gospel works for brass.
