I've been learning the Tomasi concerto, and am having a hard time deciding on the appropriate time to lose the mute in the end of the third movement. The earliest spot would be immediately after the slower 3/2 section. The next spot, my favorite musically but the most difficult timing-wise, would be immediately before the final presto. Or, I could keep the mute in through the ending of the movement. This would be easiest, but feels pretty anti-climatic. Any ideas? Thanks! _________________ -Eastman School of Music 2014-

I always took it out before the last statement because it seemed to work. Everyone does it differently, it's up to you to figure out what makes sense to you musically. _________________ Practicing is the first sign of insecurity |
