I'm tempted to buy one of these, in either red, purple, or blue, to pull out of the case as a joke at the start of rehearsals this fall for a community orchestra here locally. For the price, it might be worth it.

I saw these, or some other brand or stencil, at NAMM last January. Charles Hargett took me over to try them out. They actually played as well as any other student model trumpet. No joke.

And still some guys here are suspicious of my motives for writing posts and articles to help my friends to stay in this business...

If you do get one to take to community band, be sure to wear the white gloves!

Every time I get a Brasswind catalog in the mail, my wife points to the Amati "Rainbow" trumpet and suggests I get it.

She's a flute player, and understands the concept of lousy instruments, but I play plenty of lousy-paying gigs...

and I guess she's jealous that there are no rainbow-colored flutes, lousy or not.

Marketing opportunity: add some white to the old red & blue for 4th of July parade/bandstand use. Name the color scheme "Spirit 76". The all-black trumpet for Niles? Why, that would be color "Tap 11", of course. Green apple anodized piccs? Yes, Penny Lane: scheme " Number 9 ". Speaking of green, and getting back to flags, Rastafari "1 Love".

I'm sure those also don't go flat or crack notes when you're playing at ffff (AKA "Eleven" ) And, of course, be sure to smell the glove if you're wearing the white ones.

I pity the fool. Some just can't seem to get enough Chinese Junk...

Behind the scenes...

I'm beginning to think EVERY product that comes out of that country is an absolute waste of time, money, effort, energy, materials...

For what it's worth:
Just got back from 5 days of hot weather High School Band Camp where I was a Chaperone/EMT/Setup Crew/member of the two man trumpet terrorist section of the morning wake up squad. Since I had a horn down there I ended up joining in for sectionals and music rehershals sitting in the 3rd/2nd section to work with those kids (an eye opener which Ishould post about, but I don't know which formum).

There was a young man who had what appears to be one of these red trumpets:
1) It has lasted him 4 years and is still working. He says he has had no valve problems (I had to spend some time getting a B-300' and a Conn Director's valves functional).
2) It has become part of his "identity"
3) He is under the impression that it's USA made...though I'd be rather sure it was purchased from a place in the USA.
4) The fellow seems to be getting a lot of the band program, was working hard in the sectionals and on the field...but I wonder, if he had to have a horn costing 5 times as much would he even be out there at all.
5) The lacquer is falling off in quite a few places.

FWIW.
