Hi, I'm currently using a LOUD 1.5C. I'm thinking of getting a different cup depth. Probably a Deep Cup? Does a bigger rim diameter helps in a mellower tone?

Deep cups produce more mellow, cornet-like sounds.
Wide cups produce LARGER sounds.
Your mouthpiece is already pretty big. But not deep.
I would go smaller diameter, deeper cup.
Unless you play orchestral music for a living, there is no reason whatsoever for you to play such a gigantic mouthpiece, though.
Work on your chops with a darker, more compact sound concept. The dark sound will come (Smaller aperture/more intense buzz/etc). _________________ Brad Fowler

So I should get one with a similar diameter but a deeper cup? _________________ -Shaun

You're asking for an opinion so I'll give you one:
Read my post, which clearly says no.
You already play a huge mouthpiece. Most people who play such drastically large equipment do so because of one of two reason: a lack of proper embouchure development, or because they need to for the type of playing that they do (e.g. orchestral work).
Practice, and keep the sound that you're striving for in mind while you do so. Play with a smaller aperture. These will give you a darker, more compact sound.
If you want to, buy a deeper cup in the same diameter. That'll make your sound more cornet like.
You have a really nice and expensive horn. It's not inherently dark, however. That's part of the problem. You bought a horn that doesn't fit the sound profile that you're looking for.
There's my two cents! _________________ Brad Fowler

Hmm..
Thanks for opinion. I'll carry on working on the sound i have in mind. I hope I'll get the dark sound I want. THANKS! _________________ -Shaun

I think Loud makes a 5B which would match the above suggestion. |

Hi all again!
I'm interested in Curry's 1.5BC or 2BC. I've visited Mouthpiece Express. They offer plating services. Are the job professionally done? Is the quality as good as those gold plated mouthpieces that come straight from the manufacturer?

Which has the better plating warranty....Curry or Mouthpiece Express? I'd ask "before you buy" as to the warranty. If replating is necessary, what will be the cost to replate? One could also ask how long should replating last under normal conditions?
Best wishes,
Lloyd |

Well... According to Curry's website, they don't do plating. _________________ -Shaun
