Mark, As of now, there is not going to be a SC1*s. We tested the mouthpieces heavily in Chicago this past week and the consensus was that the SC1 is already so small that a shallow version doesn't leave enough room for a big, full vibration. I'll update this page if anything changes.
FWIW - I'm now exclusively playing an SC1*. I doubt I could have played this mouthpiece a year ago, but it's now the perfect mouthpiece for me. I've never had a piece of equipment so vastly improve my playing like this thing has. My range, power, endurance, and security have all taken huge leaps forward.
Best to all, Kyle |

Am I missing something? Kyle, if there's not going to be any SC1* mouthpiece, how is it that you are playing on one. If it doesn't give enough room for a full vibration, why do you do so well on it? Are we talking about a new mouthpiece Jerry has come up with or is this the original SC1 size? Thanks and all the best, Lex _________________ Mouthpieces:

Lex, Just a pinch of confusion. Originally, two new offerings were expected: SC1* and SC1*s (shallow). Only the regular SC1* will be offered. The shallow version proved to be just too small. The one available, the SC1*, is a whole new mouthpiece, much smaller diameter and wider rim than the original SC1. Don't ask me about the naming conventions, I don't have nuttin' to do wid it. :>D

Ha! Ok, weird...but Callet is one of those super creative cats so I guess we'll have to go with it... so, then, the big question: What is the diameter? I know Callet measures his mouthpieces further down in the cup, which makes them read smaller than most traditional measurements, so maybe you could just compare the feel to a Warburton, Bach, and other manufactures. The diameters I play with now (Chad Shoopman's new size and a new Trent Austin model) would be comparable to a Warburton size 14 rim (which they only make on special order). The Callet JAZZ mouthpiece is around a .600...and has a feel and measurement right around a Warburton 10 or Bach 20C. The X5 is also a very similar diameter measurement and feel with a shallower cup...The JAZZ and X5 are nice companion jazz and lead pieces. Anyway, certainly curious about Callet's new piece if it's a nice small diameter like I like! All the best, Lex _________________ Mouthpieces:

Hey Kyle, that new piece is on Jerry's site. A little bigger diameter than I am used to, but what a nice looking rim! I love the cushion rim with my thin lips. I ordered one and will keep you guys posted! All the best, Lex _________________ Mouthpieces:

I still have both Drew, but I am not finding the jazz sound I want on them...who knows though, I may go back and fool around with them! All the best, Lex _________________ Mouthpieces:
