There was some discussion on what the new Bach mouthpieces actually are. They continue the same concept as the Artisan trumpets which is classic cosmetic design with some modern changes/improvements. The exterior is similar to the Bach mouthpieces made in the 1920's. Essentially the rims and cups are the same as the latest mouthpieces that are made on CNC lathes from the original "cherries" that Vincent Bach put away for the future, which is here. There is some modification to both the throat and backbore which are based off of Bach designs. There are no plans to offer custom throat or backbore options. Like the Artisan trumpets they are what they are. _________________ Bill Siegfried

Thanks! I know they are at NTC? Has anybody given them a toot? Thoughts? |

Thanks! I know they are at NTC? Has anybody given them a toot? Thoughts? | Stopped by NTC today and the new Artisan mouthpieces are not available yet. I modified my original post to reflect more accurate information. The throat is not identifiable by the old drill bit number designations. It has a shape all it's own. It is not designed to be modified or altered and will only be available in the most popular sizes. 7c, 5c,3c, 1 1/2 c and b etc.. I understand there are already several thousand confirmed orders. I'm looking forward to trying them out. _________________ Bill Siegfried

By a Curry standard or special order straight 27 (he too modified the 27 throat. And in a Bach blank. He is hard to reach and maybe not even in the biz. any more. People put Curry down but they are great mpcs (for me) if you can find one. THe cornet designs are particulary good and non-tiring (for me) I use the 5 series and have quite a few of them--easy to go back and forth.
I can't stress the palyability of he cornet designs--I use all short shank. |

They're not in the custom mouthpiece business. If someone basically likes a Bach mouthpiece but wants one a little more open or with some other characteristic Mark can do it. _________________ Bill Siegfried

Mark Curry is very much in business!
And I'm sure he appreciates the positive comments you wrote about him, I'm surprised you've ever heard or read anything less than positive about his mouthpieces. I have never read a bad word said about him or his mouthpieces. His mouthpieces have great designs and great consistency.
Sincerely,
John Mohan |
