You don't post the pics here, TH doesn't store them. You have to host them somewhere else, and just put an img tag in pointing to the remote site that contains the actual picture(s).

olivertrumpet-

go to photobucket or picasa and set up a free account. Once that's done upload your images to that site (from your computer).

When posting images on TH insert the Img tag above and copy and paste the direct link from the image. Preview your post. It might take a couple times but once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

I believe the serial number is 41449...

That would date it to about 1888...pretty cool! Like the others have said, open an account at one of the free hosting sites like Photobucket, upload your photos into an album there, and copy and paste the IMG code generated there to your post here.

I always love when this stuff comes up. i get to see they modes that are usually only talked about. I have some very good ne cornets that ply well and shined up would look good on this site.

But...in spite of the bells and whistles, as nice as these horns look, how many rally PLAY. Or is it just stuff that came off the line and are just average to poor. As I aid, I have a number of cornets in various keys that play just fine. All pro, except the Eb but its been thru so many incarnations tat most sop players use it as a back up.

The horn that i have now and am learning how to play it as it far sup assess all of my pro horns is a banged up Old Amb. Great sound and very easy on the chops. I've even learned some new things from playing it. I had just the most basic work done on it to get it up to speed and then but it in a case for 2 years.

Better judgment made me take it out as I'm starting to age (56) and as wonderful as my other cornets are, they are getting hard to play. This Yam allows me to do all sorts of things I was starting to have some busted chop issues on the "supiior" horns. And the collection of 4 Mark Curry Short shank mpcs help a lot. Nothing to post--you've all seen an Olds Amb. in med law. condition a zillion times. But it plays-and for the modern jazz that i paly, it's not pretty. But its pretty to me when i can play something the new super duper horn, or the old vintage horn can't do for me.

After all, we're talking about music and the beautiful execution of music the right horn with the right mic can get for the player and that wonderful feeling of all the years of practice have pulled off.

Thank you for your time!!

NB-been disabled since birth so I ask you to plse forgive me the third grade writing on these notes of a longer nature.

Well, as far as the ones I've posted (at least the ones I still own), they are all players. I've sold all the so-so ones...including an old Ambassador I used to own... . Just goes to show that one man's junk is another man's treasure.

My recently acquired Getzen Eterna 800...it's a got a few problems (dent in the leadpipe, crunchy bell) but DAMN does it play nicely. Nothing a trip to Charlie Melk can't fix...

Thanks dale and mark. I will go to photobucket and upload from there. I didn't realize it dated back that far. I was thinking around 1895ish.

Dale, you can really play some decent jazz on an Olds Ambassador cornet in my opinion, they are sweet animals, and very easy to play - with the right mpc of course.

I have been playing my Eterna, with a trigger on first valve, since 1980 and it still sounds beautiful. It has a lot of missing silverplate through being used every day. I have played in a Salvation Army band since I was 10 years old back in 1957, and I am still playing, though in a smaller band now. I still play just about every day, but only for about an hour.

I won't dispute that Ambassadors (cornets and trumpets) work fine for some genres of music, like jazz and even big band. In my opinion, they just don't have what it takes to play "legit" music at the higher levels, though.

You have got a point there.
BTW I wonder where the Carol Brass cornets (3880 and better) could be placed - do they make it into the upper range for playing "legit music"? Do they qualify for the "official cool" ?

man, i absolutely am loving this thread. sooooo many amazing horns. funny and sad that i likely wouldn't had even looked at this a year ago, but am have become awakened to the beauty of the cornet. I am having more fun playing cornet and enjoying the amazing sound than any of my trumpets ... since no one has yet pictured one, here is the 3-tone Getzen 3850 Custom Series shepherd's crook .462 bore special:
