Here is a new book of studies taught by members of the Schlossberg school. We have plenty of copies available!

I’ve used Schlossberg for over thirty years both for my trumpet playing and also my tuba playing. I've found it forces me to pay attention to my buzz and how it is produced for more than any other exercises I've come across.

Any thoughts about Herseth's Schlossberg drill numbers order as showed by Edward Tarr in his Book "East meets West"?

I think nobody understood my question.
Tarr (East meets West, p. 248) wrote some pages about Schlossberg and his drills. He's quoting 3 orders or sequences of drills, used by Herseth (and then given to Thibaud, then to Bo Nilsson, and then to Tarr):

1-4-7-11-14-18-16-42-23-25-27;

13-15-62-15-35-38-41-44;

22-93-102a-97-30-114-76-78-104-105-74-77.

(note the 15 is 2 times)

Has someone any idea about this sequence and how was suposed to be practiced (all 3 sequences every day/ 1 seq./day .... ) ?

Albert,

I don't. Why don't you pop Clyde Hunt at Bb Music an email and ask him? He might know. And if he does, let us know, eh?

Albert,

I would practice it as a 3 day rotation, unless someone can tell you other wise. Keep in mind most people here probably do not have the book you are referring too.

Schlossberg can be pretty taxing stuff, I try to follow Chris Gekker's advice and routine when practicing it, saving it for lighter days.

Yup. And it's all "easy" so they say. And tears me up from the floor up. You look at it and say, "oh I can do that!" Then on the 3rd run, it's like, "okay; this time I'll nail it all."

Just a sweet old school thing that would make anyone better.

When I studied with Bo, he was very specific about how the schlossberg programs should be practiced. Often times after he finished explaining and adding on notes to each exercise it would look very different than the original exercise. When he gave me the first program, he had me practice it everyday for a year and it has helped my playing immensely. If you have a chance to work with someone who knows the program (Bo or maybe a student of his) I highly recommend it, but I don't think it's as beneficial to follow his routines without the knowledge of each exercises purpose and to be guides through the routine. I can perhaps answer your questions more via a PM if you have any.
