I've the CTR-5000L-YLS-Bb-L since yesterday.

His price has not increased on Thomann site (549 €)

It's a wonderful horn regardless his price.

First : intonation is the one of the best if not the best one of all horns i've owned : the G over the staff is not too sharp and very few lipping to have the upper E in the staff not too flat.

Its not a Bach copy, it has its own sound, with a big mellow low register and bright upper register.

After 2 days including a 2 hours jazz combo rehearsal yesterday i can manipulate the sound and make plenty different tonal colors with it.

Totally different of the Calicchio 3/7 Ultra witch is less precise but have a buttery sound in middle register that iv never found on an other horn.

The endurance is better on the Carol who respond quicker because its lighter than the Calicchio an need less intonation corrections.

So the Calicchio Ultra is not the better horn to compare this Carol.

It would be interesting to compare it to a Bach 72 or a Xeno for example.

Its seems to be basically a CTR-5000L-YST-Bb-L but with a 72 standard bell instead of a 37 lighter one.

Its seems to be a good section horn (i play second with solos) and will test it at the Big Band next friday (until the std 3/7 arrive ... )

Thanks for the review fredo,

So you feel it was worth the price then?

How does it slot?

And in Spain, where I'm living, it's even less expensive: 529 euros!

Unfortunately though, I ABSOLUTELY don't need a new Bb right now...

In response to TrumpetAlways : i think it slots tight but very precise.

The square tuning slide backed up me at the rehearsal so i tried the round one witch i prefer.

I had difficulties to find and sustain the F over the staff (amateur player) with many horns except the New York 197 7/7 but this horn tired me in long gigs and the Yamaha LA but his sound was too "thin" in medium and low register for me. (i do not like the light horns because of that)

So the Carol permit me to play higher (without extending my range) because the notes are where i expect to find them and have a fat and dense sound in the low and medium register although i prefer the Calicchio sound for that.

I like the Carol for : his intonation, accuracy (precision), interesting sound, endurance, craftsmanship (valves : fantastic !), and quality/price.

Very interesting horn as primary one or backup one, i depends of tastes and financial possibilities.

I have also ordered. Transfered the money about 2 weeks ago. Thomann has not sent any mail to me if the payment has arrived and all is OK. Nor have they sent a mail telling me when I could expect the horn...that they apperently do not have in stock right now

They take the money only when they send the horn.

What model have you ordered ?

Did you send them a mail to ask for the delivery ?

Can you tell us where your are in Europe ? (what land ?)

I've always payed by PayPal - it's very fast and easy! -, and at least in this case they send an email a few minutes later with the detail of the order for confirmation / modification.
They get the money only after confirmation or modification of the order - I couldn't say exactly when, though.

With them the communication is just excellent, so if you didn't receive any email from them, I would say that very likely your order hasn't been correctly received.

Contact them by email or tel - maybe better by tel if you want a direct explaination and a quick response -, I'm certain that any problem that may have occured will be solved quickly!
