Mark, as you probably know by now the video doesn't work...hey, I was gigging at the Something jazz club last week...Didn't you mention you were doing some gigs there? I'm writing because you mention the B6L...I wondered if you tried the S32HD? AMAZING horn...I was gigging with my buddy last Sunday and he let me try his... I think the only horn I ever liked close to this horn was Callet's old copper insulated JAZZ horn. The HD Schilke has incredible power and core without exerting any extra effort...Check it out if you can! There's one at Dillon's right now... I've got one coming in from Maine...hopefully by tomorrow so I can at least have it for tomorrow night and Sunday's gigs...Best, Lex

Unless I missed something, I'm still waiting to hear what our distinguished moderator sounds like on the horn. Did I miss this?

Best,

James

I'd post a link to the youtube video of me in the Macy's parade from a couple years ago, but I think by this point every trumpet player in the galaxy has seen it at least once. No need to beat a dead horse!

Hey Mark, that's cool man..Somethin is a nice place. I'm hitting down at the Capital Grille in Wall St on most Fridays from 6:30-10pm..Jazz quartet...Last night was really smokin..I got my friend Ratzo Harris on bass..very cool. I'm playing at the Fat Cat and Cornelia St end of May/beginning of June..The groups are still getting the dates ironed out... Also we are trying to get a group into Dizzy's Club...my favorite jazz club! This weekend is just a club date and a latin hit way out on Long Island. Next week I'm in the recording studio at the Magic Shoppe doing some jazz stuff as a sideman, so that should be fun. Recorded a drummer's album a couple of weeks ago down at Peter Karl's studio in Brooklyn. Very nice cat..great place to record. So just playing around with a lot of different jazz groups right now and doing some latin stuff...of course besides all the club dates/rock/commercial hits... Also been playing lead in a big band at York College...The guy who runs the program is really on top of his game and is trying to book the band all over NYC...He's gotten that band into the Blue Note and Birdland among other places.

As far as the recordings from the Callet cats...I dunno...Besides Drew, Mac Gollehon has some stuff up that I think has been posted in this forum. I think the story is Mac had some chop problems years back and he went to Jerry and got all his chops back adopting the TCE...Mac's a really strong player...great high chops, etc. Best, Lex

I caught Mac at Something the other week. He's a beast for sure.

At the end of June I am doing a Maynard Ferguson tribute concert. However I am NOT gonna do the 70s rock stuff, just recordings of his swing stuff from the 50s and 60s. Roulette, Mainstream recordings. Slide Hampton Willie Maiden stuff etc. Thinking of getting scores of trumpeters together to pass the books around and have a real trumpet hang.

Let me know if you wanna play Lex.

Mark
