|
I’m on the mailing list for Rob Roy McGregor’s publishing company (Balquhidder) and I received a very exciting message today. There is a new book coming out in the near future that I am definitely going to be adding to my library. Michael Sachs is publishing a book (and has included Balquhidder on the distribution) and it sounds FANTASTIC!
This is the message from Rob Roy McGregor:
| Quote: | In addition to having Balquhidder Music items, I am planning to have Michael Sachs's new book The Orchestral Trumpet, which is at the printers right now. Michael is the publisher of this book and has kindly included Balquhidder in the distribution list.
You won't believe this project - 176 pages plus a CD. There are over 90 excerpts that Michael presents and comments upon and the CD has over 60 of these excerpts that he recorded - over only two days! This is a once-a-century book and I know it will be a must-have in the trumpet community. |
Based on the class that Michael gave at the ITG conference in Denver, I can only imagine how well conceived this book will be. I can’t wait to get my copy and clearly agree that it is "must-have". Wow! _________________ Derek Reaban

That sounds great. I almost always have his "Daily Fundamentals for the Trumpet" with me. Last year the Cleveland Symphony was here in Toronto and they played Shostie #5 and he was fantastic. I look forward to this book.

| Mr. Sachs has it all figured out. His ability to communicate these ideas is 2 nd to none. |

| Now, I'm even more excited. The Cleveland Orchestra is in town tonight, and this is the first time I will hear them live. Woo! Woo! |

| Michael's first book: Daily Fundamentals is a must for every library! I bought it from him in a class he gave here in Canada and since then, I play his routine once a day. Michael Sachs is one of the greatest, I can't wait to get this book! |

His other books are on his website under Publications. I don't know for sure, but perhaps it will show up there when it is available as well.

Kevin,
I'm sure it will also show up at Rob Roy McGregor's website when it has been officially released (possibly later this month since the ITG conference begins May 22). Here is the contact information for Balquhidder Music. _________________ Derek Reaban

From what we have been told the book is at the printer in hopes of having copies available at the Balquhidder booth at ITG. The book will be available there and on the Sachs website.

I am very happy to announce the release of The Orchestral Trumpet, a comprehensive book and CD overview of standard orchestral trumpet repertoire. This is a 176 page book covering 90 orchestral works, all with accompanying commentary for each passage detailing practice techniques, performance tips, and historical perspective. Designed to be a complete guide for both preparation and performance of orchestral repertoire, The Orchestral Trumpet also offers essays on relevant topics such as Audition Preparation, Playing Offstage, and Using Different Keyed Instruments. Accompanying this book is a CD containing 67 standard orchestral passages that I recorded for this.
The book and CD are packaged together and will be on sale starting Friday, May 18th for $39.95 plus shipping. This is available for purchase on a new website I’ve set up for this project (www.TheOrchestralTrumpet.com), my website (www.MichaelSachs.com), and through Rob Roy McGregor and Balquhidder Music (http://www.balquhiddermusic.com/MS1001.htm) exclusively. I have also created a Facebook fan page for the book as well (www.facebook.com/TheOrchestralTrumpet).
2012 International Trumpet Guild Conference
For those attending the ITG conference May 22-26, please visit the Balquhidder Music booth to purchase a copy of The Orchestral Trumpet (as well as any of their other wonderful publications). Rob will be the only vendor at this year’s ITG where this will be available.
National Brass Symposium
I will also have copies of The Orchestral Trumpet available for sale at NBS in Atlanta, Georgia June 8-10.
I hope you all enjoy this!!
With warmest regards,
Michael |

This could be just what the doctor ordered! I'm a relative newcomer to the C trumpet, and recently applied to join my local amateur orchestra. I was hoping to find a good overview to help me approach the repertoire.
One problem: The 'Buy Now' link seems to be down (temporarily?). _________________ CarolBrass 658R | CarolBrass 400CRT-LS | Wisemann DTR900SP | Yamaha 631GS | B&H Sovereign | CarolBrass 7770F-YST-S | Curry & Reeves mpcs

Just ordered my copy from Balquhidder. Looking forward to working through it. Disregard my earlier comment about the broken link; seems to have been fixed. _________________ CarolBrass 658R | CarolBrass 400CRT-LS | Wisemann DTR900SP | Yamaha 631GS | B&H Sovereign | CarolBrass 7770F-YST-S | Curry & Reeves mpcs

Received my copy early this morning. Pretty good way to wake up, in my opinion!
A fantastic resource, and a "must have" (or seriously encouraged to have) for every serious student's library. |
