|
|
I heard recently from someone I know that had tried out one of the "new" (I'm not actually sure when this change might have occurred exactly) Eterna short bell Picc's from Getzen.
He was very favorably impressed with it, and is looking to get one over the Stomvi he's playing now. Specifically, he had one that had the straight 4th valve slide option on it, slightly different from the one shown below:
One of the big features of this picc is the Blackburn pipes (2) that come with it.
According to the Getzen website, some of those that might be in inventory at dealers could likely be from before the change to the Blackburn pipes, and you should get one "new" not in older inventory, but I'm not sure how dated that note is.
Just curious to hear opinions from anyone that's actually had a chance to play one in this configuration. |

AFAIK -
The straight forth valve slide has always been an option on the 940 picc. Blackburn pipes have also been an option for some time.
Either can be upgraded to any Getzen 940 picc. _________________ Wild Thing Trumpet

Getzen's new 940 piccolo trumpet with Blackburn pipes can be ordered through our store. Simply phone 978-823-0580 or email sales@osmun.com for availability.
For those of you that have an older, say mid 1980's or earlier Getzen 940, Larry Seavers while still working for Getzen made a change to the lower mouthpipe branch. The improved branch is tapered opposed to cylindrical. We keep these tapered branches in stock for both brass or silver plate upgrades. You'd be amazed at the improvement switching this small part can make on these Getzen 940 piccolo trumpets. We often pair this conversion with our Osmun OB105 Bb and OB106 A piccolo mouthpipes, available at our online store.
I hope this is helpful. _________________ James Becker

I bought mine about a month before the announcement that Blackburn leadpipes would be supplied, so I guess it's the "new" version.
It's the only piccolo I ever played so I have nothing to compare it against. _________________ Richard Ashmore |
