Hi all,

I have been doing BE consistently for about 6 months or so now and I am digging the results so far. Weirdly though I have recently been noticing more air leakage from my corners during the RI exercises. I was wondering if this means I am doing something wrong or need to concentrate on other exercises to compensate for this.

Thanks!!

Jon

As long as you seem to be progressing then I would probably keep at it and not worry too much about it. As your embouchure becomes more balanced as you do the BE exercises, the leakage should resolve on its own. If your playing is getting worse as you continue to do BE, then something may be wrong with the way you are practicing. Jeff Smiley, the author of the BE book and moderator of this forum, is also very good about returning emails and usually open to BE related questions so you should feel free to contact him too if you run into trouble in the future as you continue your BE journey.

My take on it... I think you are doing something right, to me this means your corners are unlocked.

The quality of my BE exercises has gone through many ups and downs through the years. I consider it all part of my evolution!
