Dear Reinhardt folks,
Who knows anything about Don Johnson, a Canadian trumpet player and teacher?
He was a Symphony player at a very young age, and played all styles of music as one of (if not the) first call player in Toronto for many years. Later, he became famous for his teaching as a "chop doctor", and is somewhat of a legend in the area.
I spoke to him recently and found out that he studied with Reinhardt around 1951. Does anyone here know anything about him, any details, any stories? Ever met him, played with him, studied with him?
I'm collecting information on Don Johnson and I would love to hear anything you know. |

Thank you, Rick!
I'm looking forward to hearing some more. Any dedicated Reinhardt students know anything about him? |
