I have a private lesson scheduled with Roger Ingram in a couple of weeks. Can anyone who has had a lesson give me a preview?
Thanks |

I had a lesson with Roger a couple of weeks ago. First thing you will go over is breathing. Do some searching about Bobby Shew's "wedge breath." You will probably spend the bulk of the time working on breathing unless you get the concept of breathing quickly. You'll have a blast, he's a great guy, and boy, he knows how to play. |

Rusty, does he still live in Chicago? You will have to post something about the lesson after you take it.
Enjoy!

I had a lesson with him last week, he really strightened out the breathing thing for me. Now breathing the way he showed me has made playing trumpet ALOT more enjoyable. For ME it was worth the money.
Please tell him I said hello!!
Nathan
Let us know how the lesson went |

Sorry to chime in, but no, Roger is no longer in Chicago. He moved to NYC for a time, but as far as I know, is now in LA. To my knowledge, he's been touring with Harry Connick's Band and doing studio stuff out that. Try hitting up his website and finding out more. Sorry for the digression

Thanks for the insight ... I wanted to learn all about the "wedge breathing" thing. As far as I know, Roger is still "based" outta Chicago; however, does stay in Los Angeles and New York from time to time. He was nailing everything on the Connick Special last night! Really looking forward to the private lesson ... will tape it etc. so I can post pointers.
I know most of you folks probably already have Wayne Bergerons "You Call This A Living" CD ... if not ... get it! Wanted to say that there is alot of good Lead playing (by Wayne) on the rock group "Chicagos" Big Band Release. |
