The white rubber gaskets (two each) that go on the first and third "trigger" slides of my old Mendez trumpet, have aged and crumbled and need replacing. Where can I get replacements for them? |

Contact ANA Mendez at accme1@mac.com
He's an Olds (and Mendez) enthusiast. I've got his rings on my 1954 LA-built Mendez.

There's a seller on Ebay.com who does a resto kit for the recording trumpet who's O rings fit the Mendez perfectly.
These are rubber rings which fit the version with the bumper collets on not the earlier ones that had the Delrin rings and no collets. they will fit this version but are not particularly efficient at reducing the "thunk" sound as the trigger is released. _________________ Chris.

You can also check out O-rings at the local Ace Hardware store. Perhaps you can find some that will be thin enough when stretched a bit over the ferrule. They'd be cheap... |

Most O-Rings tend to be rather thick, and make too large of a spacer. I suggest the tiny rubber bands you can buy for dental braces. |

Orings have a round cross section, so they may slip up onto the tubes. The rings used for horns are quad rings, which have a square cross section. If you don't mind black, Mouthpiece Express has them.

When one of them broke on my C trumpet, I found some small hair rubber bands lying around. Check a local music store because I got my other ones for free. _________________ Matthew Porter
