One of my seventh grader boys plays guitar, sax, piano, and drums for a total score of 79% (bad math to add them, I know). He gloated.

Just explain to him that this poll is about girls playing the instrument.

The weirdest answers:

A lot of people voted to have their kids study the Beatles, but none of them wanted to go back and see them live?

Who To Go Back in Time For:

I have heard the original recordings of Buddy Holly, and seen TV clips. The songs were good, but the performances were nothing to write home about. Roy Orbison or Johnny Cash would be worth it. Nobody wants to see Elvis? Good! Not that I think he was not good enough, but it is nice to see a good chunk of the "real world" moving on.

Don't let these poll results fool you. People still pack it in to see Elvis tribute artists. And not just old folks either.

Nobody wants to see Elvis

I saw Elvis live in Monroe, LA, in the late 70's. That was the best concert or show I had seen to date and remained the best until I saw the Radio City Music Hall Christmas show last December. The man had a lot of faults, but I think he basically was a good man and a great entertainer.

Don't mean to hijack the thread- back to the poll results. I think the trumpet lost a lot of its luster when big bands went out and combos and rock and rock and roll became popular.

Did you know that the Moderators can see the IP address from which you posted this?

Did you know that the Moderators can also see which other users have also posted from the same IP address?

Is that information you'd like us to share?

If not, please refrain from posting under multiple user names.

Thanks!

Times have changed, I guess. Had no probs with Craven Morehead playing trumpet and singing in a rock band back in the 1970s. We don't even make CBS/Vanity Fair's list? Thank God!

If it's any consolation, I just returned from four days in Andalucia, in the south of Spain, and the sexiness of the trumpet appears to be solidly established in that part of the world. You hear it everywhere, you see it on advertisements and billboards. Pretty ubiquitous...

For crying out loud, this is the whole reason I chose the trumpet. My aunt told me trumpet players and drummers get all the girls. This blows that theory.

Gosh darn it, I don't want to play the flute! geez....

Once a producer for a recording project told me that trumpet high notes are like little lightening bolts straight to the cl . . . Doris, is that you?
