Sad to hear. He was one of my early influences for playing trombone. Thank you, Wayne - I will continue to keep that same old feelin'.

I did a session at his studio one time. He had a little studio in Hollywood at one point.

A great player. For the past few months, I've been listening to Jazz Crusaders "Lighthouse '68". Wayne sounds tremendous on it. RIP

Mentioned this to some of the young "hip" jazzers. They not only didn't know who he was but didn't know the Crusaders.

Makes an old man sad.
