I used an S cup with a 69 backbore for many years on a plain old Bach ML 37 Bb. It works.

The only reason I switched is that I got fitted for GR's.

So is the 69 backbore more open than GR #1?

It feels a little more open, but there is more to it than that. Combination of rim, cup, throat, backbore, gap, horn, player.

What exactly, are we supposed to check out on Virtual Trumpet Studio? Ancient history?

I prefer to use the #69 bbore on smaller bore/step bore horns or horns with tight wrap like my Lawler Star becose i it opens up the hkgh registers , in general this bbore recods very good , thats why the studio guys preferi t , i belive that the old Purviance bbore records also geat.

Regards

Yes, it is a fire ball with a 28 throat and an s cup, if you can handle the resistance.

The 69 backbore has a very resonant and vibrant sound. I use it with a Reeves D cup, which I believe has a 26 throat and it still has a lively sound with a lot of presence.

I use it on a Schilke S42, which is a medium bore horn.
