I had a collector friend bring me a horn the other day. It is a 58B (noted on the leadpipe) sn 314409, so that would make it near the end of the 58B production (1936/37 according to the lists). The interesting thing is that it has a removable bell and 3 extras! Two bells are copper, but don't have the same color, one is yellow brass and the other is a darker brass. No engraving on the bells at all. It plays very well and I've had fun comparing the different tonal qualities of the bells.
I've sent an email to Christine (aka Conn Loyalist) but have not heard back. Thought I post here as well for any informaiton that might be available as to whether this is something that anyone has seen before or if it was some kind of factory experimental model.
thanks

That is such a cool horn, thanks very much for sharing the photos! And if your friend opts to sell it, no need to go to eBay, just call me _________________ 6340S, Connstellation 36B, 38B, 38A, and 28A, Couesnon flugel, Blackburn C, Kanstul/Besson 920 picc, and a HUGE pile of Messina Covers gig bags |

This is the same horn. My friend purchased the horn from Randy a couple of years ago, but didn't get as much information as was posted there. Thanks, I didn't see this section on the Conn Loyalist site. My photos are not as good as wideagleman. _________________ Clay Collins

i remember when that was on ebay and it got very little interest.
Ebay is weird
I just had my best conn 22b on ebay for a week, and this horn is the best 22b anybody will ever get, and it could not get an opening bid of $450. Crazy. Just not the right week i guess. _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

Similar to my friend Mr. Indofunk (I didn't know you played a 56B), I would also love to try out those bells. I dig my 58B, but would like to play around with different bells. |
