Oh, well, I still have about 3 or 4 from the 70s. Maybe they're collector's items now... |

Thanks for the clarification. This explains why I could not find them listed on the Schilke website. _________________ Richard

Kind of wish there was size specs in the bill chase. Maybe I'd get it if it was a good size. |

I just orded a BC yesterday and I should receive Tues./Wed. I'll let you know what it's like. I played the original in the mid '70's so we'll see if it's anywhere close to the original size!

???...that was 36-37 years ago!!! I believe it was listed at 40/64ths. My decimal GUESS would porbably be about .620 maybe even .615. It had a rather flat, wide rim...i.d. was small...and the cup depth was VERY shallow. 28 throat.

I played a couple of the old BC jet-tones and remember them sounding unusually good...felt great and had a big, brilliant, fat sound.. _________________ Mpcs: Jim New-Manley Jazz1/Jazz2/Jazz4/Lead3. The one pictured resembles my 70's era MF2. Utterly cupless, what I understand Maynard played then. The other two offered at the time had shallow but distinct cups. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

all the descriptions i have heard of it is that it resembles the original Mf personal model, i never played that one, but i have the re-issue, depending on the day, it is alot of fun to play. If you want to try it before buying one, let me know and i'll send it to you to try out. i only mess around with it now and then, its virtually new.
regards,
tom

I bought a Schilke made copy of the Severinsen Model and my opinion is that the copy is close, but nothing like the original Ratzenberger era piece. _________________ Have horn, will travel! |

According to the Jet-Tone brouchure, all three had similar convex cups and varied in size of cup and size of throat. The MF Personal Model had the smallest convex cup and the largest throat of the three.

The brochure you post doesn't show a piece that resembles my MF2, where the convex cup starts at the rim. And to clarify all I agree that all have convex cups, it's just that the other two had some relatively vertical plunge from the rim before the convex cup starts. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I've only had one person play my Holton St-302 MF Horn with my JetTone MF2 mouthpiece who captured some semblance of Maynard's tone. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."
