I recently bought the new bach commerical trumpet and the horn plays great. With the tuning slides that come with the horn, you can cover almost any type of playing style. One of the problems that I am having is that when I play above a Double G, the horn starts to spread and I find it very hard to center the notes. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what they would do to help with this problem. I have warburton sending me my same lead piece but with a 28 throat other than a 27. Thanks

The lawler that I have is a XL bore with a 1 pipe that was opened up to a 1A. the lawler has a lot more resistance than the bach does.

While I am a fan of a small (almost no) gap, you may find that a larger gap helps you center your upper register. Have you tried the Reeves paper trick?

I would also check the gap. I know that Bach has been really sloppy with the Artisans. Gaps as big as 1/4". That's pretty large. Wouldn't surprise me if its off.

I've heard that gaps are intentionally larger on some of their models, not sloppy, but on purpose. Not sure if that applies to the Artisan horn(s) or not, but apparently it does on some of their C's.

WOW a XL bore with 1A pipe and the Bach is more open , i always had the feel that my horn is a little more open than i want but with a tighter bore and bbore mpc and a extra heavy cup on the 3 valve slide i solve this problem , thanks , probably this Bach is not for me , but for sure the #28 bore piece it will be a good move.

Regards

That's sad to hear, if true. Seems to be contrary to the meaning of "artisan" to me; against the idea of commanding a higher price for supposed higher quality of workmanship and materials.

Just to follow up, I received a 28 throat version of my mouthpiece and it solved all of the problems
