Very mature and tasteful playing from these young lions......soon some of them will be household names(well, in homes with trumpet players)....

The winner was Chicagoan Marquis Hill. A couple of days before he flew to NY, he was in my living room looking for a GR mouthpiece to compliment his new van Laar Oiram. He went from a GR e65C* (which I also sold him earlier this year) to a slightly different cup, a GR e65MX which has a slightly lower alpha angle, more cup volume, and a larger GR3 back bore.
I heard things in my living room that just amazed me. His tone, technique, and approach to the horn were just incredible. I was certain he would win and he did.
Speaking of his remarkable tone, many of you look for that airy Miles sound. Well he had that and when he wanted, he could make it clear as a bell. Marquis was well aware of the very important facts that you, the horn, and the mouthpiece must be a match. He and I knew the e65MX was the right fit for what he wanted to accomplish.
Not only a great young player, but a terrific guy to boot!
It is fun to be a GR dealer.

Marquis has been pretty established in Chicago for some time. I saw him at Andy's over a year ago and I think he's a prof at DePaul. He's great!
