Doc Severinsen "Night Journey" I finally gave the CD a good honest listen. First off, it's a big production. Lots of musicians, strings, back-up singers, vocalists and even a gospel choir. The audio quality is excellent as well. Doc puts out some very nice lead runs and it comes together quite well.
My favorite cut is "The World's Gone Home", which sounds as if it could be the theme song from a motion picture -- maybe it is? A few of the cuts have a somewhat Latin / 'Angelino' flare. It's always good to hear Doc's distinctive trumpet sounds from back in his prime playing days.

Listening to a crazy diverse variety of things in search of material to arrange for a new band I'm putting together.
Beatles, Esperanza Spalding, Gretchen Parlato, Kenny Wheeler with Norma Winstone (Azimuth, Maritime Jazz Orchestra and Kenny's own records), Silver 'n' Voices, Stanley Clarke with Chick and Andy Bey, Horace Silver's Cape Verdean Blues album... _________________ Bach trumpet artist-clinician
