hello, i am still working away at the trumpet, and i was at a friends house and his son just got a trumpet and i saw his mute and noticed that it was closer to the low volume i need at night.

i have the Humes & Berg 132 Stonelined Mannie Klein Model SH! SH! mutye and have no complaints really, except that i have have to go to my walk in closet to play because i irritate my dog. she barks at every note if i play it in the kitchen with the mute and its quite annoying. and was wondering if something was more quiet. i am wondering about the one he has.

i took two quick snapshots of it to get the info off but all i can see is 'FIBRE TPT STRAIGHT MUTE it has the model number: ddw55571.

i can't really find it online.

does the SHSH more of an air flow obstruction to playing? or are some better.

i am still new, but is it the quieter you go the more air obstruction?

anybody have any recommendation.

thank you in advance.

Try a Brass Spa silent practice mute. I got one on Amazon for around $20.

I like the Trumcor Lyric Stealth but it a bit expensive.

thanks bill i emailed you.

232- may sound like a dumb question, does a yamaha mute work well with my King?

kickin'- brass spa - how does that compare to what i have, for example which is more real playing, obstructing more/less air? volume level?

cheiden thanks, but that is more than i ma willing to spend at this time.

The Yamaha Silent Brass fits my cornet, C trumpet and two Bb trumpets that have different sized bells. It is very quiet and can be used in the next room to my wife and if she is watching TV, she can't hear me. When used with the box and headphones the sound is pretty much like normal playing.

I've had my son, his wife and 3 year old living with me for the last 3 months, while their new house was being built. The silent brass was the only way I got to practice, most of the time. A real lifesaver.

Silent Brass. Use the electronics and you won't find yourself overblowing to hear yourself. Great product, IMO, I've not tried the newest model but I used to buy them up cheap on Ebay to give to my inner city kids to take home so they could play and not disturb the druggies in the apt joints nextdoor. Still have about 5 or 6 in my basement I ought to get rid of. Good luck.

Mine is the new version. Expensive but worth the money.
