An ebay curiousity:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rich-Oxley-Benge-Resno-tempered-bell-3-valve-Trumpet-silver-gold-hand-built-/251758347525?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:US:3160

One of the oddest things about this custom trumpet is that the maker must have familiarity with New York Calicchios. If you look at the first slide arrangement, it's almost identical to the one I picture here:

It's the same down to the small nub pull knobs. Very interesting horn and concept. When Calicchio was making horns in New York, he used the first slide as the tuning slide; there was both the main slide and a smaller pull slide.

The only part that appears to be made by Benge, is the last part of the bell. The rest of the horn appears to be cobbled together from parts made by different manufacturers.

Definetly not my cup of tea.

Looks like a $4K mess to me.
Maybe it plays well, maybe not, and that's a lot of bread to spend on a horn that would likely be difficult to flip.

Saw that a couple of days ago. Yikes, and gag a maggot - for me, anyway. To each his own.

No, I'm with you guys, it's a weird one. But details interest me - I certainly wouldn't want to own it!

I agree...that is a messed up/too much time on the hands looking trumpet work. Interesting art work to hang on a wall...maybe, but I would bet it plays and sounds like crap.

Looks like a Salvador Dali trumpet. Of course, Salvador Dali was not known to make good trumpets...

I took another look at this trumpet; the valves and slides are Calicchio from the New York period. I know because I have one, and another one recently came through the shop. I've been researching that period of Dominic's trumpet making. My working theory is that he was buying valve sections from Wm. Frank before he started making his own casings/pistons. They are two distinctly different looks and this one looks like the Frank parts. (On a frankenhorn!)
