Perhaps a bit early to start on picc??? Me thinks so. Maybe he just wants a pocket trumpet?

Regards,

Mario

There are plenty of young students who are good enough to have a need to play piccolo. Not every high school band has a student of this caliber, but a few do. A student who is studying seriously could need one at that age. Keep in mind that there's an 18 year old in Berlin now... Age isn't necessarily a factor, and if there's a lot of time, talent, and determination, I don't see any reason why a student of the instrument at the appropriate level (which is reasonably attainable at that age) would not be ready to tackle this repertoire.

I can think of worse thing for the kid to be doing and playing! I just hope this mother doesn't get suckered into a "band director" approved model purple lacquer piccolo trumpet.

Well, unless he's a prodigy, I don't really think a 15 year old should be playing piccolo trumpet.

Just my opinion.

It sounds like the only person who really thinks the kid should have a picc is the kid. There's no suggestion that he's a prodigy. I would bet that if he received one, he would be disappointed in his ability to play it…………..and it's final resting place would become his closet.

I'm basing this on what I recall of my own childhood closet. Girlie magazines notwithstanding…..
