Thanks to the folks at Washington Music Center for putting on a great workshop!
I drove from NJ to meet Doc and it was WELL worth the drive.
The Shires trumpets seem like really solid players (though a bit rich for my blood) and it was great hearing Doc share so much about his playing, his life, and everything else!
Doc was enjoying himself so much that they had to raise the lights and pull him off stage because he was more than 1/2 an hour over time.
Thanks again! _________________ 1987 Bach Strad 37

Hey gdbeamer. I was there, too, with my 2 sons.
It was a great event. Lots of good stories from Doc about The Tonight Show, and playing with Clark Terry, Jimmy Maxwell, and Snooky Young.
He was funny, entertaining, and insightful. And the Shires trumpet were pretty good, too. A great job by Doc, Chuck's, and Shires.

Yeah, I was very pleased with the event.
Doc was so open and honest about everything, and his delivery was perfect.
I know it was essentially a sales call for the Shires folks, but I thought they were all extremely nice. No sales pitches or gimmicks. _________________ 1987 Bach Strad 37
