Personally, Greg Spence's youtube channel and website "Mystery to Mastery" have helped me tremendously. Check them out _________________ Elizabeth Peroutka-Schneller

I have found Pops books to be very helpful. His New Arban and Clarke is all you seriously need to improve the physical aspect of trumpet playing.
I also use his " More power more Range" Book as well as his "30 minutes a Day" book.
Recently I picked up Augie Haas' "Build Your Range" book and have not yet worked out of it but it seems to be excellent as well. _________________ Carol Balanced Model, Flugel and Pocket

Beth, there are different packages to get on the Mystery to Mastery website. What do you recommend? |

i really like irons. it's a good start to strengthening for the upper register.
a book by itself is only so much as you need the correct physical approach to blowing. in an ordinary sense though irons is the ticket and will either kill you or cure you. you may have to take things in doses and do it so many days per week. irons has been the most fun and challenging tome i have found so far. |

I also like the Augie Haas book. There is a familiarity to all of the exercises, for instance one of the exercises reminds me of my normal flow studies and another reminds me of Clarke 2. Playing them with backing tracks helps to get my mind out of the mechanics of playing in the upper register and into playing in a musical way. I find that is very important for me when I'm workin on a technique. |

Also Augie's book with tracks build in rest and as the excercises go higher the number of measures of rest increase. Smart. |

I can back this up. While its new on the market, it is a very concise book and builds your range sound and endurance in a very smart way. Check out his website:
