I was given a Conn Director 13B with tarnished slides (horn was sitting in previous owner's basement for 25+ years). Best product to use to clean/shine them? I realize that this is a purely cosmetic issue.

I use Blue Magic metal polish. You can get it at any auto parts store. Do not use scotchbrite pads or steel wool like some shops do. That will remove material and can cause the slides to fit loosely.

Been using ScotchBrin shop for 20+ years. Never removed enough metal to loosen slides. Love it for the nice finish it gives on brass.

Thanks for the responses. That's a Conn 18B, not 13B.

Soak in Simple Green to loosen up old lubricant and residue.
Follow up with Wright's Silver Cream polish (works great on raw brass).

Are asking about the slide tubing or the lacquer/plated portion? If it is the internal tubing, I use a Blitz Cloth (about $4.00 from Sam Ash Music). Most metal polishes take some metal off.

Silver or lacquer? I use Tarnishield on my silver horns.

I use Flitz to remove oxidation from the raw brass portion of my slides. My understanding is that it does not remove any metal whatsoever.
