I don't understand any aspect of the video. Or even how anyone could think the (rubbish) message it's trying to convey is worth making a video about.
I... just... don't... understand?
Why would anyone go to that sort of effort and to make such a deluded an invalid criticism? Has someone just got a bizarre sense of humour or do they really believe this?
Ever since people stopped raising their kids we see stuff like this. Morals, respecting your elders, learning, good behavior, studying, modesty, and on and on - kids don't know the first thing about any of them. And why should they? Their "parents" don't have a clue either. _________________ Finally Beiderbecke took out a silver cornet. He put it to his lips and blew a phrase. Kids' upbringing aside, I am baffled by the premise of the video.
Where would a person of any age get the impression that Vizzutti is a 'crappy' trumpet player or that he uses too much mouthpiece pressure, which seems to be why the person thinks he's crappy.

Quite frankly, I'm baffled as to how anyone actually thought this was serious. _________________ "May God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't." George S. Patton Jr.

I've been in the same room with Vizzutti giving a master class, as well as having seen him perform live in a concert hall. The man has nothing to apologize for, and I'd really like to meet the trumpet player skilled enough to dare say he was a better musician. One of the "benefits" of free speech, is anybody can hide behind a keyboard and make a fool of themselves. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away."

30 minutes spent reading the comments on youtube videos and you'll probably understand.
So you think it's just a joke? There's no real indication of that...
There's only one comment on this particular video. But I have plenty of experience with YouTube comments in general, believe me. There's no real indication that this ISN'T a joke either. I see it as a very good parody of egotistical trumpet players. That's my theory, at least. The uploader might have spent some time on Trumpet Herald in the past... _________________ "May God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't." George S. Patton Jr.

I think I found a recording of the guy who made the video. Classy! _________________ BM Oklahoma City University

Doesn't strike me as a joke. There are plenty of idiots out there who seriously have this kind of attitude. Remember Wildman, who claimed the Rocky trumpet section was lame?
If it is indeed a joke it's just not that funny I guess.
But I don't think it is. I think they're serious.
That said, it's almost surely made by a young person so taste and good sense may not yet be part of their skillset.
The problem with the whole "you're entitled to your opinion" thing is that people think it means they're entitled to their opinion being treated as valid regardless of the factuality of that opinion.
Either way I'm still fascinated by the particular criticism in the video... It's not the playing that makes him apparently 'crappy' but that there is a 'mouthpiece indent'. Well there isn't. There's just a brief moments after removing the mouthpiece where blood flow returns to that part of the lips. And I'm certain there is no living player who wouldn't exhibit this regardless of the actual amount to f pressure used. The only alternative would be to use so little contact so as to allow the air to escape from around the mouthpiece.
I know I'm probably over thinking a silly video but to me it's like someone has made a joke that doesn't actually make sense so my internal sense of logic feels violated...

Just another silly YouTube video. Joke or not.....just silly.
The problem with YouTube is that many younger people take it seriously. ANYONE can post ANYTHING. Reminds me of what my dad told me years ago,
".......don't believe everything you read...." . YouTube falls into the same category, don't believe everything you see on it.

Probably posted as a joke, or perhaps with the idea of monetizing it if it starts to go viral as a result of the ridiculous title and comments the guy embedded onto the video.
Tasteless, stupid and unfortunately, a sign of the times and what's to come.

Free speech doesn't mean you hear only what you agree with. The price of freedom is having to listen often to really misguided thinking. I try to keep that in mind every time I visit TH. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away."
