Doug, I recognize about half the players. Some I'm not sure of. We all look a little different 21 years later. Could you list them?

Bruce Gates (IV) retired, lives in Phoenix now and leads his own big band.
Rich Sigler (IIIB with IV tendencies) retired, freelanciong in DC.
Tim Leahy (IIIB) still in the Note, close to retiring.
Trombones:
Joe Jackson (IIIB) retiring right now.
Doug Elliott (IIIA) freelancing in DC area
Gary Hall (IIIA) retired in DC area, stopped playing, photographer now.
Dudley Hinote (IIIA) retired, freelancing in DC area
Saxes:
Joe Eckert, retired, teaching in TX now
Andy Axelrad, still in the Note
Pete BarenBregge, retired, freelancing in DC area
Saul Miller, in DC area (or maybe in Riverside, CA) but not playing, AFAIK
Don New, retired, teaching in Baltimore area
Piano:
Wade Beach, retired, freelancing in DC area
Bass:
Paul Henry, retired, freelancing in DC area
Drums:
Claude Askew, retired, teaching in Arkansas

That 4th chair bone player needs to be a trumpet player. (Last name of Hinote)

Yeah! Wonderful.
I first heard your stuff with the Airmen when I was in high school and started to play. Always enjoyed your playing a great deal!
I like the sound they got with that setup (and mic), too - nice when there's a trombone solo and you can actually hear what it sounds like instead of getting completely lost. |
