|
|
I wanted to let the folks on here know that I've posted the trumpet routine that Jerry Hey and Larry Hall practiced during their time at Indiana under Mr. Adam on the Bob Reeves Brass blog. You can check it out at: http://www.bobreeves.com/blog/jerry-hey-larry-hall-bill-adam-trumpet-routine/
I received several requests for what they practiced after their podcast episodes aired. Jerry and Larry were so generous with their time compiling these exercises. They spent hours pouring through their books and reminiscing about what they used to do.
This is not intended to be a definitive routine or a one-size-fits-all approach, but a window into what these guys were doing and how they would modify and expand exercises to keep them fresh.
Enjoy (and get practicing )!

Very cool to see this version of the routine. It comprises quite a bit more "virtuoso" material than the version I came to know at IU in the late '90's/early '00's. |

You must realize that Larry and Jerry were very advanced players when they used this routine. _________________ Bill Bergren |

For lack of a great, fully focused routine, and since I'm gigging less these days, I took this on today. Kicks my ass. And I barely got to the second part. It can lay bare some discrepancies in your playing, at least mine, but that's not hard

This is the closest to the routine as prescribed by Bill Adam circa. 1982. _________________ Bill Bergren |
