Bought these here on TH at a great price. The straight mute is Wenge and has a surprising amount of "sizzle".
Not sure what the wood is for the Cup, I think it might be Padauk because it looks too dark to be Rosewood. But it plays and sounds terrific!!! _________________ Greg

How does the tone of these wood mutes differ from a traditional mute? Can you describe the diiff? I've really been wondering recently. If you can... Great thanks! _________________ Jonathan Milam

Jonathan, recordings of eight different wood-type Facet straight mutes can be found at:
http://www.glennbutler.com/index.php/glenn-s-ramblings/item/11-facet-mute-shootout#.VeqqlPZViko
That should help you get a sense of how the tone compares between the different wood types, and also how it compares to a metal mute (though with aluminum, brass and copper in various configurations there is also a fair bit of variety in tone among "traditional" mutes). |

Pretty sure that your cup mute, is what Facet Mutes originally referred to as "Bloodwood". I used to own both the straight and cup in this wood. Congrats on your purchase.
