Well guys, here we go - I'm incredibly excited and honoured to say that I am now officially a Jupiter Music UK and XO Brass endorsing artist. A huge thank you to Kay at Jupiter for her help/support, also to Grant Golding for the recommendation & faith! Also, a big thank you to all my friends and family (a few who are on here) who have believed in me all these years even when I no longer believed in myself.

I'm looking forward to being a part of the Jupiter / XO Brass family and opening a new chapter in my adventures through this madcap life I seem to lead!

I’ve made up a Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ewanmains/ (for those that do) music page to post all my music things on and will be doing some reviews on there on both the XO Brass line, H&B mutes as well as a few other things with playing advice etc.,

At the moment I have the following horns to test and am happy to chat about any of these. Feel free to drop me a line here or email ewan@ewanmains.com.

Jupiter XO 1600iS (Roger Ingram model)

Jupiter 1102RL - Heavyweight red brass bell symphonic model, although sounds spectacular as a Jazz trumpet.

Jupiter 1100 - Lightweight yellow brass bell model. Nice and zingy.

Jupiter XO 1646RL Flugelhorn. Red brass bell and lacquered - got to play on this for 10-15 minutes yesterday, just beautiful - definitely one you need to try out!

Cheers!

Ewan x

Welcome to the Jupiter family.

I signed on with Jupiter in 2013 and love their XO brass line.

I am playing on the following horns currently.

1600i in lacquer
1604 Rose brass bell reverse lead pipe trumpet in sliver plate
1646 Flugelhorn (rose brass bell) lacquer

Great stuff Jon! It's exciting to be joining the team.

The 1600iS is my own horn that i've played on for just over 3 years now. That one covers about 90% of my playing - it always amazes me how adaptable it is. Really impressed with the 1646 and 1102 so far. The 1100 is very nice as well. Will hopefully be getting a few of the new XO trumpets to try as well.

The folks at Jupiter UK and KORG UK are really lovely to deal with.

The 1600i is a great horn and very versatile. Keep in touch!

I like them. They build very nice horns indeed.
Little over a year ago I bought my piccolo. And for that price, it beats almost all the orhers

I played on a silver 1602 for over a year. SOld it in order to get the horn I dreamed for a long time, but I remember the XO as one of the best horns I ever tried.

These XO horns are very, very underrated IMO. And looked down by many.

The greater the miracle, the smaller the audience.

Be glad, because if everybody wanted one, prices of these little gems would raise up to Yamaha prices.
For me these are "just" tools, to make music. And luckily very reasonable priced, and of great quality, so that I can earn my money without having to spend thousands of Euro's first.

My next "investment" will be one of the Bb trumpets. Didn't make my mind up yet which one it will be, the Ingram was my favorite, but I hadn't had the chance to try the other XO-s yet.

That's exactly what I think of Courtois horns. But, SHHHT...enough said.

I agree, they're underrated. (I haven't heard anyone who looked down on them, though. I think many just don't know and don't have an opinion either way.)

I play tested a bunch of trumpets last April-May. I went with a Yamaha Xeno, but my second choice would have been an XO Brass (Jupiter) 1602s. Very nice trumpet.

Don't have the same experience. I remember many times not having been seriously taken when talking about the quality of the XO trumpets. Especially by Yamaha afficionados.
