We have reformulated Ultra-Pure Professional Valve Oil, Ultra-Pure Ultra-Light Valve Oil, and our Trombone Slide Lube. They are now even faster, smoother, and longer lasting than ever! We are getting rave reviews about these new formulas and I am sure you will love them. On pistons and rotors, the new oils make your valves feel friction-free, like you are just bouncing the springs up and down. It is a great feeling! Still all synthetic, non-toxic, and odorless.

Now available at our web store and rolling out to dealers and distributors worldwide.

All these refill bottles here... I guess I'll just have to wait, because I'm pretty happy with how it works already.

We encourage you to try a bottle of the new formula. If you like it even more than the former version, you can ship your old bottles to us and we can convert them to the new version. Then we will ship them back to you, just charging you for the cost of shipping. Contact us for the mailing address if you are interested.

I wonder if this will solve the milky white crust build-up issue?

If you have some milky white blobs, it is most likely due to the interaction of the valve oil and a lanolin-based tuning slide grease. The oil can separate out the fats in the lanolin. The new formula for Ultra-Pure valve oil rejects moisture much longer and will probably not have this reaction with the lanolin, but I have not tested it for that specific behavior.

How can we tell if we'll be purchasing the new formula or the old? Will it state "new and improved" on the bottles?

We are putting a small red dot on the bottom of each bottle for orders shipping to USA dealers and distributors. We will do this for February and March 2016. After that they will not have any special markings.

The best way for now would be to order directly from http://www.ultrapureoils.com/shop. The stock in music stores can take 3 to 6 months to turn so it will take time for the new formula to be available in all stores.

I think that's will be a problem for me. A friend of mine ordered a 8oz bottle for me because mine was finishing so he shipping the bottle from the border.
(I´m in Tampico México) so I'm afraid I must to wait to test the new formula.
I´m oiling my valves with Ultra-Pure from two years ago and it´s fantastic,
Thank you for take care our horns!

If you're not using up an 8 oz. bottle quickly enough, you simply don't have enough horns. I order mine two 8's at a time and still have to order fairly often.

Any reason to reformulate? I've been a big fan of UP oils for years now, use the oil on everything but the tuning slide!

This was a difficult decision since as you said, Ultra-Pure is already a great valve oil. But we wanted to make it last longer and reject water (saliva) better to prevent any staining or oxidation. This new formula accomplished those goals and added a wonderful, friction-free feel. So we were able to make a great valve oil even better!

I'm always curious to know if you and/or the people in your industry test the oil in combination with things like "Spit Balls" or "Blow Dry Brass" and what your findings might be.

I can't speak for the rest of the valve oil makers, but I have not tested our products with these other care products. Since they are meant to clean or dry your instrument, I am reasonably sure they would be fine with Ultra-Pure valve oils and tuning slide lubes. If you use them, please give them a try with our products and let us know your results.

I've used BlowDryBrass since it first hit the market, with 91% alcohol. Most of my horns are using UltraPure (not the new formula yet, though). I haven't observed any problems at all.

Ken,

The red dot idea is great! If you want your customers to be certain whether it is new-version or previous-version oil you may want to continue printing the dot on each bottle.

Looking into the future, oil version 3.0 could have an orange dot etc.

This was about 5 years ago and was not blobs. I experienced a whitish buildup in my valve ports that had to be scrubbed off. Very odd - I knew two other folks who had similar issues, so we thought it was perhaps a local thing caused by something in our air. But the tech I use in Chicago said he'd seen the issue on a few dozen horns that used Ultra-Pure, some of which had developed some odd hanging issues. On his advice, I just stick with my old fashioned stuff.

I've always had issues with synthetics though - Hetman, Ultra-Pure, Monster, Yamaha - so I just keep my 5 Starr subscription.
