It's Sunday night and I just completed the first week of The Producers, finishing as strong as I felt at the beginning of the week.
It began with the first rehearsal, which was Friday the 8th, and four hours in length with no break. Then we had a 12 hour rehearsal day Monday (with two one hour breaks for lunch and dinner), a 10 hour rehearsal on Wednesday (with a one hour dinner break), two shows Thursday with a one hour rehearsal before the first show and a 30 minute rehearsal before the second show, one show Friday, two shows Saturday and one show Sunday (today).
It hurts to take a full breath! But that means the muscles are just going to get stronger.
Due to the small size of the theater and pit (actually a room off Stage Right), in addition to the first trumpet book, I'm covering 2nd /3rd trumpet and french horn cues. There's no way I could have pulled this week off without the things Claude Gordon taught me regarding how, what and when to practice to develop sound, range, endurance and technique on a brass instrument (and then putting that knowledge to good use through daily practice). I am so thankful!!!
Sincerely,
John Mohan |
