| I was at that NTC talk and spoke with him afterwards. He is truly a humble, God loving man, and gentle giant. For what it's worth, his cornet playing from the previous night's concert didn't sound any different than before his dystonia battles. |

| Can't recall more exciting orchestral playing than Phil Smith in the 80's (when I heard the NYPO a lot). I had no idea that he had a chop problem. Did he leave the Philharmonic early because of it? |
