Just thought I would share an interesting horn that I recently delivered to a customer. This customer played and fell in love with the new Eclipse Large bore cornet. He had been playing an old vintage Conn prior and was always drawn to the way the old cornets looked. So, as tribute to the cornets of yesteryear, he asked for some custom engraving on the bell. After settling on which bell he liked and a custom engraving pattern, I sent a bell to Sherry Huntley from Artistic Engraving (http://www.artisticengraving.com/) to allow her to do her magic. When she was finished, I shipped the bell back to Leigh to install on the cornet. I think the results speak for themselves. Not only does this horn play extremely well, I think the engraving looks amazing.

Enjoy:

The bell flare looks really different. Please comment on the effect of this configuration with a large bore cornet. Thanks.

The bell flare on the new Eclipse cornet is slightly larger than "normal." This (combined with other things) gives a nice mellow cornet sound.

Looks great. Although I'd want triggers.

Sherry engraved the bell of my Bach cornet a number of years ago with the "Stradivarius Deluxe" pattern, and did a fantastic job on it. I had it done for the same reason, to pay homage to the way cornets were decorated 100 years ago.

Thanks! Any time I get the opportunity to compliment Sherry's work, I do.
