Here's a nice pic of the trumpet section for "The Force Awakens" with JW & JJA. I must say, I'm personally a bit disappointed they didn't use the LSO again and couldn't use Maurice Murphy, but I reckon these chaps did a passable job...!

I watched the first three Star Wars movies back to back two weeks ago:
Star Wars - Quite a minimal score, with the same bits repeated here and there in different scenes.
The Empire Strikes Back - Much bigger and more complex score with much more music matched to the action.
Return of the Jedi - More subtle score - does not sound like Maurice Murphy on principal trumpet (really? possibly). Tone is different to what I would expect to hear from him. It is either not him or he changed equipment.
Still to see the new film. _________________ Bb - Scherzer 8218W, Schilke S22, Bach 43, Selmer 19A Balanced

The sentimental part of me was a bit saddened that the LSO wasn't used again for this movie but I have to say, whoever they got to play this time around did a terrific job. They sound amazing! _________________ Kevin Hilman |
