Not the best recording, but you still hear what a beautiful player Blue Mitchell was.

Brent! Thanks for sharing. A portion of my DMA project is on Blue Mitchell. One of the tunes I'm set to record is a contrafact on Recorda Me (video #3 of the live quintet.) Nice to hear him blowing over those changes live! Blue was one of the baddest! _________________ Bach Trumpet Artist - Clinician

"Chick's Tune," contrafact of "You Stepped Out of a Dream." It's really cool to hear this live, much faster version.
I'm familiar with it from the Blue Mitchell transcription book and this recording which I've listened to obsessively and memorized, playing along with it hundreds of times:

Never knew the other existed until now and I'm looking forward to comparing and contrasting. |

It's sorta like a Horace Silver group with Chick subbing for Horace.
They played for Chick every bit as well as they would have played for Horace . . . total pros!
Pretty cool to hear this. Thanks, Brent! _________________ Puttin’ On The Ritz |
