Doc was my inspiration when I decided to make a comeback to playing at the ripe old age of 79 last spring. I hope I will still be playing at 88, even if only at a fraction of Doc's amazing ability. Thanks for that link. _________________ GeorgeB

Thanks for sharing! Doc has inspired so many generations of musicians including mine. I loved watching and listening to the band coming back from commercial breaks on the Tonight Show for many years. He showcased many great musicians and kept that great music in front of a large, watching public. This is a very great performance as well and the UNT 1 o'clock Lab Band is stellar as usual! _________________ '71 LA Benge 5X Bb

Even at 88, no one can touch his sound. I wonder if anyone has practiced as long and hard has Doc has, or has loved the trumpet and trumpet playing more. Truly inspirational!

If ever there was a case of taking to the trumpet like a duck takes to water, Doc's experience was that case. As a teenager in HS he was playing with professional bands. He was my inspiration for taking up the trumpet at 55. _________________ I rode in on a horse and can't seem to get out of L.A.
