After reading another thread, I was listening to some old MF records. And I ventured into some 70s and 80s stuff for nostalgia's sake.

MF Hollywood. Full to the brim of juiced up, heavily tweaked studio effects and some kinda cheesy recordings and selections.

BUT man, the trumpet section is just loaded with some of the most iconic bad-ass trumpeters of all time.

Dig this:

Chuck Findley, Gary Grant, Serge Yow, Jerry Hey, Larry Hall , Allen Vizzutti, Stan Mark, Alan Wise, Dave Trigg (trumpet)

I had no idea the personnel was loaded with so many monsters

Conquistador was another crazy record. I think his best selling album probably with the Rocky track.

Anyway, I never knew all these extra trumpeters were on the recording

Trumpet: Jon Faddis, Marvin Stamm, Randy Brecker, Alan Rubin, Bernie Glow, Marky Markowitz, Jim Bossy

As well as the stock MF band trumpeters : Stan Mark, Dennis Noday, Joe Mosello, Ron Tooley

I've read Faddis played either the intro or outro on the "Fly" recording. Sounds more Faddis-ish on the intro

Again, "Hollywood" is not my favorite MF record.

But here's a nice live big and cut with Andy Greenwood and big and playing "For your eyes only" and I think doing a great job.

Come, you know you're gettin' down, playing along with the horn work on the MJ chart!

Guilty pleasures!

Man, I'll admit it, when I get nostalgic, I groove with pop-Maynard. I haven't listened to this one in a long time. And I had no idea all the trumpet-studs that were on this recording!!

Indeed, I like MF's version WAY better than MJ's, LOL!

We were bored, sitting in the Mardi Gras parade lineup last weekend, waiting to go, when one of the other "speaker-floats" pulled alongside us, blasting MJ's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough". I couldn't help but "quote" some of the MF Hollywood over the top. At least several of OUR guys got the reference, LOL

I like "Fantasy" (Earth, Wind & Fire) and Baker Street from the "Carnival" album of that era.
