I bought a week before a Cornet Bach Strat 25G Longversion
with a Schilke 14 mouthpiece. I like jazz/fusion (realbook etc) , do you think its a good combo or do i have to buy other mouthpiece ? Maybe you can tell me more about de Schilke ? _________________ It's the sound you make |

Used this S 14 a couple of years but eventually found it too bright, with "meager" tonal spectrum - to my ears (and my band, brass band) Made high register easy but a trifle edgy. Had Schilke make me deeper version 14D3D, better resonance, more core. I found the rim very comfy. I have no experience with your cornet; played a Bach Strad short version years ago, probably that horn would have sounded bright with the S14.
I would say a decent fit for jazz combos.
But as always: you must put yourself, the horn, the mpc and the "surrounding" band into the equation. _________________ Cornets:
