Anybody played this? MTI website says it's for cornet, flugel, and trumpet. Anybody know any specifics about the music, mutes, styles, range, etc?
Thanks! |

I've played the show. I recall that theres no drums or bass. We had Keyboard, frenchhorn, reed, trumpet and violin. Its more of a chamber group style Trumpet parts are in C or bflat. Very classical style. There is one 8 bar solo that stands out and is a bit tricky but overall, its a nice show with nice music. Its been a while but I beleive you'll need trumpet, cornet, flugel, straightmute, harmon, and cup. Highest not is a D or C if you're using a Ctrumpet. |

One of my favorite shows to play. The orchestration is gorgeous. The solo in question as I recall isn't at all hard but it does go up to C# (on the Bb). I don't recall that there was either C trumpet parts in the main book or a dedicated C trumpet book. I don't remember that it asked for cornet (I didn't have one at the time) but there are some nice flugel moments. I don't recall anything out of the ordinary with regard to mutes.
I'd highly recommend getting the soundtrack (should be able to preview it on YouTube). I enjoyed it long after the run had ended.
This is not a particularly challenging show to play but I found it very gratifying. Enjoy. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."
