The quickest way to resolve an ego problem would be to post a youtube clip of yourself playing and invite comments

Lol...

Must do wonders for the ego if one particular guy I'm thinking of who puts up Youtube vids is an indication.

I think I have a massive ego problem when it comes to playing the trumpet. Like whenever someone does better than me I tend to get jealous and think I'm the best player ever and deserve to be because in the past everyone thought I was. The problem is I don't know how to get rid of this thought.I want to go back to playing to be better than I was and enjoy playing for what it is. I can't calm my ego down Any tips?

How much time do you devot to practising? (true liptime!)

A few more years of real life will fix this problem. Either you'll gain some perspective, or no one will want you in their group.

How old are you? What kind of players (pros? students?)do you surround yourself with? Lots of great advice and ideas here but I think this one gets to the heart of it. We all have egos and need to learn how to balance them with the rest of our life. I suggest you take some auditions or attend a camp with some professional players. Get out of your bubble and broaden your experience.

All the best!

The OP hasn't responded to anything. If the OP isn't going to participate in the discussion and give us feedback why should we participate further?
