Never heard of her prior to now but why wasn't she a household name?

I listened to as much as I could find of Clora on YouTube, very impressive, I would love to be able to play like her! Is she also the vocalist? (Because the singer is also superb!)

Fun stuff!! Obviously influenced by Louis Armstrong and Harry James (like everyone of that era) but she has her own style. The high chops are great, she comes through very clear, she's not afraid to take some risks. Love it!!

This thread introduced me to Clora Bryant's playing, and her lone album has become one of our absolute favorites here in our household. What fantastic chops (you can hear Dizzy's influence coming through loud and clear) and great vocals!

I came across this video of her burning the place down live in the '80s with an all-female band. Hope you enjoy! (Skip to 1:06 to catch the start.)
